I was just thinking.. Since there are lots of multi-track softwares. Does each software make any difference from each other's recording quality? Like if I use Vegas Pro to record vocals, same thing with Sonar.. Will the quality of the sound differ from each other or still the same? I am currently using Vegas Pro, because it is much easier to use than Sonar.. But if the sound quality is the issue, can you guys suggest a good multi-track recording software? If not, then I guess I'll stick Vegas Pro.. THANKS.. :)

P.S.
By the way, i've ask this quesion before, but no one seems to answer it... How can you record a song being played from WINAMP to a multi-track software?

I think the determining factors would be your a/d converters in your sound card and your skill. Once your sounds are "digitized" I don't see much difference in the way different apps handle sound. An area where you will see quality differences is in the plugins you use. With plugins you pretty much get what you pay for - the Waves plugs, being among the most expensive, are also among the best.

The algorithms used by the software will indeed have an impact on overall sound quality, especially dither. However, it's usually not anything to get your pants in a knot about unless you really know what you're doing. Vegas Pro is a fine application (or was in its day). If it works for you, then keep using it.
