multi track recording soundcard for laptop?

Does it exist? Or at least a device of some kind that enables you to do the same thing on a laptop as you could on a regular PC by using a multitrack soundcard. (Like EWS88 or DSP2000)

rme hammerfall, egosys, are two i looked into to use laptop with softsynths...........there may be others.........
