hello... new to the home recording world.
I'm looking for a stand alone multitrack recording unit that can also become part of a computer-software based system. Ideally I could record at home and in other locations and then have the option of mixing/mastering on the recorder or sending single tracks (via firewire, usb) to my computer to mix down or master there (with sonar). Does anyone know of a versatile Multitrack recorder with this capability for under $800? (I guess this would essentially be acting as an interface between a PC and the instruments)
Also, can a MTR act as a mixing board in a computer-based studio (adjusting equalizers, preamps manually)?
One last thing, does anyone have any experience with the Korg D888, or Fostex MR 16HD?
These things might be obvious to some, but any help/ info would be much appreciated.
Thanks, c
