I finally got a chance to use my new msh-1's on some recordings for drum overheads. I think they're wonderful mics for the price and are much less hyped in the hi's than I expected them to be. Also they are matched wonderfully, the levels are spot on with equal gain settings on my pre and there's no difference in tone. However the one thing I'm noticing is the mics seem far less dynamic than my ksm109's. I know I'm comparing an almost 200 dollar mic to a 20 dollar mic and I'm going to continue to use the mics but I'm just wondering if anyone else who owns them has noticed this particularly on drum overheads. Is this just a characteristic of a smaller diaphragm?
