tarnationsauce2 – I have an ECM8000 pair (one of them is a little hissy) but haven’t done a direct A/B test… just from memory I didn’t think the ECM8000 had as good a sound quality.

I usually use Schoeps mk41s for guitar. Their narrow pattern is handy and they’re very quiet. Comparisons…. The MSH1A also has a very sweet high end, though being an omni it’s got a bigger and more natural sounding low end. I really noticed its transient response – other low cost mic’s I’ve used, even if they can sound good otherwise, tend to have a less smooth transient response than my better mic’s. Not so here. No clankiness, no harsh edge at all, but good detail still. They do have a slightly audible noise floor with a quiet source like this test but to me it’s unobtrusive and an OK trade-off for the mic’s sweet sound.

Sounds really nice on the computer speakers here at work. Can't wait to hear it at home. I think I'll be buying a pair. Been thinking about it because I need some omnis and the price is good and I like supporting small businesses, especially people who do what they do for the love of it.

Upon closing my eyes and letting the music fill me, I see flavours of Renaissance ....a dancer...she bows ever so gracefully in her snowy white, tulip cut dress....it's jagged hem with layers of delicate material, await their calling in the dance.....she bows ever so gracefully, as her body becomes fluent....moving as waves of tall grass, bending and swaying in the breeze....seduced by the touch of her lover's hands, as he masterfully guides her in his song.....the dress follows the cue of her movements, becoming her partner in the dance....it embraces her curves, down to the flowing material of the hem, just as his hands embrace and move each note he plays....Her long auburn hair, enchanted by the sweetness of the notes and ryhthm, caresses her shoulders and face......their song and dance continues until their love has been spent.....as the song comes to a gentle end, she swirls to a finish with a graceful bow, to the master whom has stirred her love.
