Unless Reel P has control of loads of music shop websites and Google itself I think it's genuine. I tried MR8HD on Google and got lots of hits.

The fact that it's not on the Fostex website doesn't surprise me!
To be fair to Fos, the dealers don't actually seem to have any yet, maybe their just passing on the pre-release info?

By the way, it's got a jog-wheel instead of cursor buttons.

Question: What happens to the VF80 now?

Why am I even bothered - I use a VF160!

Hmmm, going to google it myself and see what that's about.... May "upgrade" to that, but I am still got my eye on the VF160EX myself.

Aaaaaaaaaw, C'mon!

Even I'm not that clever! ;)

If I were, I'd not invent the Fostex MR8HD, I'd invent the Tascam 444, cassette based Portastudio, that technically topped the 424mkIII!

Rokket: followed your 'you can buy it here' link to ZZ sounds and they are taking PRE orders. Unit not actually available until 30th June, same as Ed's info on AMS.

Yeah, oops! I forgot to add that little tidbit in there! Thanks, orc!

I got it!

(In my own imagination),...
What I'd like to see as the answer to the MR8, would be:... the Tascam 844. This would be designed by me, as such:

- full analog mixer & analog recording section, including:

- 8-inputs total, incl. 8-XLR's with phantom pwr, 3-band sweepable or fully parametric EQ

- 4-buss configuration w/full 4x stereo buss monitor, adequate aux & eff-snd's & regular stereo buss, (8x4x2x2x1x1). You know,... "loaded", like the Tascam 388 or M520 mixer strip.

- 4-track simul record capability/4-tracks total.

- (7.5ips) Double-Hi-Spd (4x) analog recording to high bias cassette.

- dbx NR.

- color: red!

I wish Tascam would hop on a design like that! I just invented it for'em! That's a whole other post!

Aaaaagggghhhh!

It's still 16 bit/44.1kHz, but...

it's not red! (Big marketing blunder, there)!

I wonder if the pre amps in it are the same as the MR-8, though? If so, I guess the fact that it has the harddrive and 4 (4!) XLR inputs and 5 1/4" ins... and I do have the mixer...

Shit, I'm talking myself into it...

Reel is probably twitching and bitching with every excited post about this...

Sorry Reel, I just have this mental image of your "Angry Beetle" photo... :D

HA! It's being talked about in two threads now! Of course I posed the same question in both. I wonder if it really has been released somewhere outside the US yet? I know that I saw a site that had a gray MR-8 for sale, but it was sold outside the US, so it just makes sense that the MR-8HD is available somewhere already.

That's not an "angry Beatle",...

it's serious. I was trying to stay in context of the "real" Beatle photo. None of them are angry, are they??

Well I don't imagine John Lennon was too happy when he got shot.
