Question: Has anyone else had trouble getting win98se to recognize the MR-8? It asks for drivers, to my knowledge there are none. The documentation says I may have to use a card reader to upload to the PC, but wondered if anyone has found a way around this problem other than going to XP.

windows 98 se

no way around it get the card reader, 15.00 at wall mart, you also need to download the program "fostex wav manager". install the readers software, install wav manager, open wave manager and import and export files

98 will net recognise the mr 8 through usb

Thanks, I got a card reader yesterday, and that appears to be working ok, I managedto get some tracks into cakewalk. I was hoping that someone had found a way around the 98SE problem. But the cardreader does work.

reader

you will need the fostex wav manager or they will not go back to the mr 8 and you need to use it taking tracks off the mr8 to the pc also, if you punch in or do any skipping around on the mr 8, the files will not come out in sinc or the punch ins will be fragments, not lined up correctly

to go back to mr8, file must be a 16 bit mono file at 144 sampling rate and named tr01.wav the number corrisponds to the track you want it to show up on the mr8

what if you put it to tracks 5/6 or 7/8 will it still work? if not why? and why must it be a mono track?

track 5/6 7/8

You can move a stereo file from the mr 8 to the pc, according to the manual , only mono files can be transfered to the mr 8 from the pc, i have never tried stereo, but instructions say it cant be done....

well that sucks...I don't really understand that though. Why would you not make that an option?

7 and 8 make up a stereo .wav file, even though each is a mono file alone....

stero file ED DIXON
