MR8 mic simulations

Hi,
I was wondering. How many of you use the mic sims when recording? Do most people use a mixing board and record straight in then go to PC for effects and warm toning up instead of using mic simulations? I know that I used a Art tupe preamp before and it sure added warmth to the mix.

Any input is appreciated.

I sometimes use the mic sims, but usually do not. It can sometimes warm up a vocal that might otherwise sound thin.

guys in my band did an a-b-c comparison, and no one could really notice much difference

i like to record everything dry and add effects on the computer

most people use a mixer or pre amp, the mr 8 inputs arent really hot enough to get a great signal..i like the mixer , you get some eq control also which you dont get from pre amps

Haven't used the mic sims much. I do know that if you are using a dynamic mic plugged straitght into the MR8 (using no external preamp) and use the tube mic sim it sounds like mud.

Thanks a lot. While I'm no expert I realize that everyone has to start somewhere. Folks on here always helped me out when I had questions in the beginning. Plus, I might still have some questions in the future. You know, the do unto others thing.
