Hello,I bought an mr16w/out cd burner. I convert a song to .wav format and save to my pc.
the files are saved as 2 mono files on the pc.When I burn the files from my pc{not using the mr16} the files burn seperately as 2 mono files to the cd not one stereo file as I would like.
But when I burn from the mr16 through the pc using the wavemanager program, the files combine into one stereo file when burned to cd.
My question is,do I have to use the mr16 to burn stereo files to cd
Or is there a way to send the files to the pc as one stereo file to burn?
It would be a pain to have to reload everything back to the mr16 every time I want to burn songs. Thanks,Paul

The process is that the MR16 will convert the Bounced (mixed) mono files to a stereo .wav file which you can transfer to your PC. (15/16>STEREO WAV FILE button)
But you can use WavManager to transfer all the mono files from a Song (MR) to your PC, combine them and convert to a stereo file using Audacity or another audio editing program.

Thank you for your reply. You are saying I can transfer "the stereo wave file" to the pc,but "the" wav file copies to the pc as 2 separate mono files. 15 and 16.
I am asking if there is a way to have the stereo file copy to the pc "as a single stereo file"?
Or do I need audacity to combine even those two mono files into one stereo file when burning to cd.
The way you state it is exactly how the manual states it. But it does not work.
When I set the wavemanager in "cd writer" mode and choose "pc"{burn from files located on pc"} for file locations to pick files to burn, there is no way to select files or drag them into the area where files go.
Again I can burn by selecting "mr" and burn them off of the mr16 hard drive through wavemanager. Resulting in a single stereo file on the cd.

If you have carried out the conversion from 15/16 to the 2Mix folder OK then the file in the 2Mix folder will be a stereo .WAV file ready to burn to a CD.
It will have a left and a right channel component which should be exact copies of tracks 15 and 16. It should look like a single file to the PC.
Make sure you are opening the 2Mix folder for the selected Song before copying the file across.

As you have a cd burner on the MR (MR16 HD/CD) why not just burn directly to the CD on the MR16?

WavManager is designed to transfer selected tracks from a Song on the MR. It need not be used for the transfer of the file from the 2Mix folder which can be copied directly across using the Window's own file copy software. You treat the MR as an external disk drive.

Ah, thank you kind sir. You should write the manual for these folks. Now that I look again i see the manual does explain it,but but it just says to copy it without specifying exactly how. If they said "copy using windows" or as you said "treat the mr as a external hard drive" I would have understood. I assumed I had to use the wavmanager. Probably my bad. Thanks, Paul

So pleased you got it sorted. Funny you should mention the Manual, I sent an e-mail to Fostex,Japan, at their request, suggesting ideas that, I thought, would improve the manual. They totally ignored my letter.

The MR16 is really a straight forward machine that is made confusing by the instructions. My advice is "if in doubt, try it out", you won't bust the machine. But do remember that the Disk Operating System is very simplistic, no where near PC standards, so when you have completed a recording session and stored the final Songs, do re-format the disk.
