Looks like it just addresses the issue with some cards, and the wav transfer problem, but I'm still amazed that they have already released an update when the machine is still on back order. Way to go, Fostex!

Too bad there were no additions to the list, in terms of common (over the counter) cards...

I think it certainly demonstrates a concern for customer service on the part of Fostex in that they are trying to "make things right" for those who have already purchased the MR-8.
Maybe that's why units haven't been shipping as well--get the bugs out and then ship the units with the software fix already installed.
Ya gotta admire fostex from a marketing and customer service point of view. While Tascam was targeting the professional musician who wanted to set up a home studio. when Fostex entered the scene it was to make affordable quality equipment for the amateur who wanted to try his hand at multitrack recording but didn't want to pay Tascam's prices. That was back in 1980-1981 and Fostex has been following that marketing philosophy ever since.
I've got a tape in my library of a friend who is a professional musician that he recorded in 4-track on a fostex 280 [or whatever the model was back then] in 1982. It is a fantastic piece of art.

Hi,
This is sounding like a worthwhile upgrade and the effort is greatly appreciated !
Too bad my new CF card ( thats working pretty good so far ) got downgraded off the confirmed cf list !

For some reason I'm having difficulty downloading the "update manual and read me file" ???

so....how do i download the update to my mr8?

Hi,
I downloaded two zip files and then used winzip to unzip:
mr8support.zip -- has install instructions
mr8v103.zip - has the software update

New Version Updates?

I'm sorry to dig this back up-- can someone please tell me what the new version will update? Was there something wrong with the old version?

Thanks,
KF

While I own a VF80, I know a little on the MR8...

The software update deals primarily (and perhaps only) with memory card compatability issues, partly because some manufacturers of said cards changed their specs. others can say more...

Thanks,

This update has seemed to also put an end to those annoying "incorrect parameter" errors when trying to import MR-8 tracks to the PC. Hasn't been a problem since I updated.
