MQ3 Multiple input?

I was reading the manual for the Joemeek MQ3 on their website and there is a mention of using multiple inputs in the back but one would not be run through the effects....is this true? Can I hook up two mikes for a simultaneous vocal and guitar and run them into a soundcard? Thank you!
 
It has just one mic preamp and the mix in needs a line level signal. So as far as I can see it, you can't plug in 2 microphones.
 
well you kind of can, you can use the mix insert, but you will have no independent control over the two sources which is a real important if you are runing into a sound card. All that aside, I love that little green box, it makes me happy. I does a lot, and does it pretty damn well for the price.
 
Slightly off the point of this thread but, I'm thinking of buying an mq3- what's your opinion of them? Particularly the noise level- I use a Korg D16 to record and the pres on it are awful.
Can you really hear the compressor working, or is it pretty transparent?
 
ohh, you can hear it working it's ass off.

Joemeek MQ3 has an opto-compressor(optical), they are known to be up front, in your face, and un-apologetic. It makes a great vocal channel, just add delay(or reverb) and stir. It's not a unit known to be really quiet, or really transparent, but you will find a lot of uses for it. I wouldn't mic a Grand Piano through it, but if you put a singer in front of it, they will usually sound really good.

I have quieter pres, they also cost me about six times as much. I have better compressors, and EQ's, yet this little green box gets a lot of use around here.

By the way I have a VC3Q, the predecessor to the MQ3. The only difference is that the MQ3 is supposed to have a better pre.
