Ok, so this one time I had a client who wants me to make hip-hop beats for him; I took him to my studio and he said that if you want to make real hip-hop you should get an MPC. It's the sh$% for making hip-hop; and if you don't have one then you're beats aren't hip enough. Oh come on... how ridiculous is that? Music is still music, doesn't matter how you get it done.

Is it really that necessary to get an MPC just to create Hip-Hop beats? I've heard quite a lot of rappers in town using MPCs to make hip-hop and rap beats and said that it's the only thing you'll need to make hip-hop and raps beats. Anyone care? Should I get one or should I not? Opinions please.

An MPC is a good piece to have for making hip hop beats but it is definetly not required. Its more for the benefit of the client to actually see. MPC has become more of a hip hop stereotype in that its the only "real" thing to make beats with. I will say this, having one does make it easier and it does have some quality sound samples, but if budget is in mind and you can do without, Id say just wait on it.
