Pleads the 5th...
I've been waiting and waiting for "approval" at another site, and finaly gave up! I've loaded my tunes on NowhereRadio.com.

Now I need some advise. I have some ideas on a re-mix, etc., so I'm looking to compare notes before I do anything with them. (leave drum comments out of this, I know they suck, and I'm working on that as we speak), but as far as getting a good spacial / stereo mix goes, what should I pan, to which side, and how much? Anything that should be left out, added, done over. I'm working on the sound quality by getting a Delta sound card, so that should help a bit. Let's have it. I want to see if I'm on the same page with the rest of you as far as what has to be done with these go. Thanx, Tom.

FIRE AWAY!!!!!!!

Kick Drum-dead center

Snare drum-dead center

Hi-hat-anywhere from hard left or right to halfway

Toms-panned from center to hard left or right opposite of hihat

crashes/overheads- in stereo, panned hard left and hard right

bass guitar-dead center

lead vocal-dead center

solo guitar-dead center

rhythm guitars- I like 2 tracks, panned hard left and hard right..if its two different parts, i may not pan as far...for songs similiar to "Thinking of You" , i like to start the verse with one guitar panned opposite the hi-hat but not hard panned....then at the right moment come in with a BIG stereo part....

keyboards- in stereo, panned hard left and hard right

background vocals-2 tracks panned hard left and hard right

There are no rules in panning, but dead center is made for bass drum, bass guitar, snare drum, lead vocal, solo instruments(unwritten rule)....

1st one, the platey reverb on the vocals lended an amatuer feel.
The second one... man that sounded familiar... kinda remined me of I THINK an old Zeppelin song. Same again with reverb, only it sounded different... kinda sounded like a bathroom reverb. I'm hard on reverbs.. sorry :) Neat stuff... way different from what I do...
