MP3's clips of my bluegrass band.

I listened to the nine lb hammer clip. It sounded a little muddy in the low end on my PC speakers. But it also sounded true to what I hear in every bluegrass recording so you did well in that regard. The style just doesn't move me as well as others and that can affect my judgment as well. Keep it up. It wasn't bad.

It would have been nice to hear more than 47 second clips. I grew up around bluegrass and old country and western... It sounded well balanced, although the acoustic guitar was a bit lost in the mix... Nice standup bass, even if it was a bit muddy...

I listened to Red Haired Boy.

Seems pretty bass heavy but the rest of spectrum is real nice.

Nice balance between the mando and guitars. The strumming guitar and picked guitar dovetail nicely.

All the songs are really good, but there's a bit of clipping on the voice in 9 lb hammer. also, the mandolin seems a little low.

Fireball Nail is my fav, nice bouncy track, best bass levels, but overall I think the bass has too much deep end, needs more midbass warmth. i think the Waves plugin, MaxxBass could help you out there. maybe a bit more of the pluck, too.

I hate it when people just give a clip. Everyone else shares their music, what makes you so much better? This is a mix clinic, not an ad forum.

I love the music, this pisses me off. I will never buy your music just because of this lame crap.

Nice by the way. :D

Great to see another bluegrass fan on here. I have been working on a few tunes that I will post soon (hopefully).

Anyways, I agree with PDXROX that fireball mail sounds the best but all could use some bass tweaking. Also sounds to me like there may be a bit too much reverb...but what do I know...mixing is kicking my arse! :D
Liking it so far, keep it up!

Jake,

For you, I'll personally send you the full cuts! :D

But only after I fix the issues being brought to my attention. :)

It's crazy, they sound really good on my Mackie 624's but on the crap speakers on my second computer (complete w/crap sub), Red Haired Boy has waaaaay too much bass.

Oh well, back to the drawing board....

Thanks to all for the comments!
