I'm user no. 753 on there. When they first started. The site used to be cool, and it appeared that the main purpose was to help artists. As the months went by, they added new options and the site was really getting big fast. However, when they introduced the Premium Artist thing, it was all downhill.

Do you guys have any idea how much money they are making? It is absolutely nuts. I read an article on them in the local newspaper. They're REALLY rolling in the dough, and you know why? 'Cause people like you and me who have dreams of making some money with the talent we worked extremely hard to master, and the blood sweat and tears that went into each of the songs we make. And what do we have? NOTHING.

MP3.COM is a source of extreme anger and frustration for me. Everytime I log-in they inform me of another option they have taken away from me, unless I give them more money.

I wish I had the knowledge, the time and the courrage to figure out what it takes to take on a large corporation like this. Bunch of crap.

I'd also like to add that MP3.com is one of the worst companies with regards to selling email lists. I discovered this maybe two years ago, when hotmail closed my account 'cause I was getting too much email. Their reasoning was that they believed I was sending out spam. So I opened another email account and used it for many months without any spam at all. When I decided to update my email contact info @ mp3.com, the spam immediately started to flow again. FUCKERS!

I agree with you on MP3.com, once the banners and the popups started, the spam, and the premium artist thing, it all went downhill. The actual founder of MP3.com is the same guy who is selling the new linux that has a graphic interface, Lindows, I think it is. Anyway, I have a new site that I started up for musicians to promote their music without any of the popups and garbage that some of the sites have. And we do not or never will sell any email addresses. The site was just launched March 1, 2003 - so anyone joining now would be in on the ground floor. The site is www.musicfast.com , there are no fees involved, and there is an easy to use interface. To post your page, just click on musicians entrance on the left hand side.
