Hi Guys,

Need some help in finishing off this track that I have recorded for a band called I Set The Sea On Fire.

Here is the Mp3 Track: View attachment I Set The Sea On Fire - Faith.mp3

I feel the track is slightly muddy through some speakers and does not have the professional quality feel that I really want to achieve out of this band. Could someone give me some advice on how to improve the track and get it up to scratch. If someone wouldd like the cubase files, I am more than happy to provide them If someone would kindly like to have a go at mixing/mastering the track again? Could someone just point out everything I have done wrong with the track and help me bring it up to a professional feel?. I also feel that the vocals dont cut through the song very much as well.

Basically tell me everything i need to do to make this track professional, or if you want a look at the cubase files, feel free to ask.

Thanks

So...let me see if I've got this right...instead of doing it yourself, you want someone else to do it for you?

Can you post WAV files of the tracks...I use reaper when mixing and would like WAV files.

I like the song...mix isnt very good.

One thing I would do is get the band to add some type of keyboard pad to fill in the song.

Heyy there, thanks for your response, here are the mp3 files of each of the tracks if thats what you meant, you cant upload wav files here because of the size but this should hopefully do? If you could have a look at it, that would be great :P

Thanks

You should of posted before uploading mp3's...I cant mix mp3's...the quality isnt good enough...Do you have the original recordings?...if so render them down to WAV/WAVE file.

Do you have drum stems or just the one stereo drum track?...I prefer having individual drum tracks...kick,snare OHL,OHR ect.

Perhaps you can post WAV files using a file hosting site like dropbox...sign up...click public folder...upload WAv files then post link/links here.

People can download your MP3s & covert them then mix them BUT the best results would be from 24bit wav files of each track or, a minimum, 16bit wav stems (drums together as a sub mix etc). Coverting to and from Mp3 will degrade the sound considerably.
The song - sounds like a Haircut 100 bonus track mixed with something from Orange Juice.

If anyone would like a copy of the wav files, to have a play with, reply to this or send me a message and i'll send them in a personal message as I cant directly put them on here because Im a newbie here so can't post URL's.

EDIT : Found a way to do it!, ust add to the start of each of these files.

Cheers for all your help guys!

Muddy is the least of the problems with these tracks. Step one in the recording process: TUNE ALL INSTRUMENTS!

Seriously, what I just said. The instruments are terribly out of tune with each other. Even if the tones were good it would be ruined.
