Hey guys
Anyone using a MOTU2408? I see them going for super cheap on ebay and I can't figure out why they would go for so little. I need a recording interface with some more inputs, and the 2408 looks expandable too! Any input on this peice of equip?
Thanks
Scott

I use one. It's how I get my HD24 in and out of the computer. I love mine.

I use one. So far it's been extremely stable, even with a PC. The (2) preamps are crapola but it has tons of IO, and the adat interface works great. It's probably one of the best lower budget options if you already have some hip mic pres and just need a lot of line level inputs/outputs.

Oh yeah, one more cool feature is the ability to switch individual channels from -10 to +4. This is great if you have a mix of consumer and pro gear.

Awesome. this is the info i was lookin for. I'll be using the pre's on my mackie (or whatever consol i end up buying in the future) as I buy better pre's so I'm not too worried about the ones on this unit
It's expandable too , right?
Thanks!

You can buy an 828 or 896 which will sync to it. I don't know how many you can add... check the motu site. The cheapest expansion option is to pick up a used adat and some optical cables.

With the HD24 I have 24 simultainious analog inputs and outputs. How many more would you need?? It has 8 analog ins and outs and 24 digital ins/outs on either TDIF or ADAT.

The most I'll need is probably 16 or 24 tracks. I could even get by with 8, but I'd like to have a few more for headroom
Thanks for the info guys!
