I'm gonna be buying a good interface soon..so i was wondering which one is better in stablity, performance and ofcourse, quality.

The Motu unit only has 2 preamps. If you don't need the 8 pres on the firepod, you can save yourself $50. Qualitywise there wouldn't be a lot in it. My firepod is real stable, reliable and sound good

And if you don't need all those pres on the Pod, but hear good things about the sound quality...you can always get a Firebox...I am pretty sure it has the same pres, but fewer...so is cheaper.

I have the MOTU Ultralite and it sounds great on my IMac with Logic. I went through the setup disk and everything worked, no problems. This is my first attempt at recording, so I can't talk about anything else. I'm glad I bought the MOTU. I'm going to bring it on the road too for some onsite recording applications.

I have the firepod. I need to bring it in for maintenance, the first two pre's stopped working for some reason. I would occassionaly get skipping when recording but thats really not been acting up anymore, probably cuz i cut the sample rate down to 48. When its working, which it does 85% of the time, I love it all the time.

focusrite just came out with an 8 channel saffire pro, its $100 more than a firepod but the added features will be well worth it if you plan on expanding to more tracks.
