MOTU or equivalent to the Echo Layla or Delta 1010 recording setups?

Anyone have an opinion on this?
I'm pricing the Echo Layla, Delta 1010, and some other stuff, but is there a MOTU equivalent or another brand I don't know about that is trustworthy?

I'm looking for something that has the PC card, the actual analogue interface (rackmount), and the host cable.

MOTU costs a bit more, and I don't think it's compatible with some software.
The Delta is a very popular unit, has a fair price, works great, and works with almost every application.
There's a bunch of other 8in/8out cards that are similar, but the Delta is one of the best.
