does anyone know of any software for mac OS X that supports the firewire Motu 828?

DP4

as in Mac OS X DP4?

does this include some kind of mixing app?

Yes, DP4 for OSX has mixing capabilities. DP4 is a full-featured DAW that has pretty much any audio processing things you would want. EXCEPT...it can't handle VST plug-ins without a wrapper. If you don't know what that means, then you can safely ignore it.

DP4 is not the cheapest way to get some audio mixing. I mentioned it because DP4 and the 828 firewire interface are both made by the same company, MOTU. MOTU's gear works really well together with other MOTU gear. I use DP3 with an 828 and it's flawless. However, if you're willing to take a bit more risk I am sure there are plenty of other programs that'll work well with the 828.

Hope that helps.

Thanks I appreciate it

I also noticed that MOTU updated audiodesk to support OS X. Do you think that it's worith it to just pay the $150 to upgrade. I wasn't too happy with the version of audiodesk on OS 9

You're going to have to upgrade eventually anyway.

OS9 is dead.

Get with the program.

Hey, I was around when they made the switch from System 6 to 7 that ticked everyone off when it stopped a lot of software from working... You want to hear screaming, just wait until Microsoft releases Longhorn in a couple of years.... NO current software will be compatible!

Oh I'm with the program, I got Jag running on both my machines.

I was just looking for some responses as far as how Audiodesk runs on X because the OS 9 version was kinda beat.

I am considering skipping the Audiodesk upgrade and jumping right into DP4.

With the program.

I suggest you ditch the 828 and get the newer 828mk2. You can run that thing through CoreAudio and ASIO. New ones ship with AudioDesk 2; a far superior product to the first Audiodesk.

With the program

Granted, you are new to the board and all .... but I'd suggest you "get with the program" and check the dates of posts.
After 2 and 1/2 years .... I bet he got it sorted. :D

There was still a question which required an answer. Even if dimension10 got his answer, someone else may still have the question. So, why don't you 'get with the program' and think about the big picture?

OK, I find this pretty damn funny. It took you a YEAR to respond to the post asking you not to resurrect old posts?

Must have been a lot of thought involved?

At least we've gotten that all cleared up.
Good show meccaneer! :D
I think we're all with the program now.
