Motu 8 pre WITH ANOTHER USB interface for talkback

Hi all

Just one other newbie question.

I have the Motu 8pre running to my mac via firewire. All the 8 inputs are being used up by the drum mics.

I need another just ONE input so that i can have the mic in the control room (to act as talk back).

I see that you can get cheap USB single or double input interfaces from Beringer etc for like £20 UK pounds or so. (looking at this option because i'm skint and it would only be used as a talk back function)

Would one of these work in conjunction with the Motu 8 pre? What i mean is, when i'm recording through Logic, would i be able to plug in this USB single interface into my Mac and it all work together so that the single input is used as a talkback so that drummer can hear me through the control room or is do i HAVE to bite the bullet and get an interface that daisy chains to my Motu 8pre?

Hang on... just a thought... would the INTERNAL mic on my macbook server as the talkback mic?

Could i just use the internal mic seeing as all motu is running directly to my macbook. I could just set up an extra channel set for internal mic input??

Would this work?

I don't know what talkback is... care to explain it?

I think that you can use the internal mic with the 8pre if you set it up as an aggragate device in audio midi setup you can have additional inputs from other sources.

I may have called it the wrong name to be fair... What i mean by talkback is being able to talk to the drummer from the control room.

All 8 inputs from the motu will be to mic the drum kit up. The PHONES output will go to the drummers headphones so he can record to the guide/click track.
The monitor outs will be to my monitors in the control room.

As all the mic inputs are being used, i was wondering if the INTERNAL mic on my macbook would work ok so i can communicate to him through his headphones. For basic stuff like saying "get back in there and get it RIGHT!" etc etc
