motif7,connect

i need help connecting my new motif7 to my sound card i have never done this.do i just use the optical ports or do i also need to use the midi connections?.my sound card is a sb audigy2 it is all i have at the moment but it will get me started.i have never used optical or midi connections.please help

yea i have been there but what i need to know is just the basics of hooking up a keyboard to a computer.but www.motifator.com is a great site and i am sure i will need it in the future.

The most basic method would be to use L/R stereo outs on the Motif and run them to the "line in" on the audigy. THis will allow you to record the audio output of the Motif to the computer via whatever software you are using.
The midi connections should be OUT from the Motif to IN on the soundcard and out on the sound card to the IN on the motif. THis will alow you to send midi messages from the Motif to the internal synth on the soundcard and play it or other software synths providing that you have them.
I know don`t know about the optical with the Motif.
