i'm trying to listen to my VSTi and Motif presets through my mixer, but I'm not sure how to connect the mixer and my Motif 6 so I can sequence with Cubase SE.

So right now I have 2 sets of RCA-->1/4 inch cables from the Audiophile to my Behringer Eurorack UB1204 PRO mixer. One goes to the back of the mixer, to the "Alt 3/4 Outputs." The other RCA cable goes from the Audiophile to "Line 5/6 Left and Right" slots in the mixer. THat's how it's always worked in the past, when I was using a cheap keyboard as a MIDI controller for my VSTs.

Clcik "Top View" for a look if you have questions.

Do I need another cable, RCA--->RCA that connects from the back of the Motif to the mixer? Or can I just re-arrange the existing 2 cables?

Thanks a lot.

It sounds to me like what you're asking is how you would combine the Motif sounds with what's coming out of the soundcard.

Yes, you would need another cable to do this --- out of the Motif L/R and into the mixer. You would also need to turn the 'Local' function on your keyboard to 'off'. This will break the connection between the keyboard and the sounds inside and let you use the Motif both as a master keyboard and midi sound source. The 'Local' funtion is probably under 'midi', 'utility' or 'setup' depending on the verbage Yamaha is using these days.

So I bought a 1/4''--->1/4" cable but I still get no signals through the mixer when connected to the Motif. I've tried every possibility, I think, but still no signals. When I switch to a VSTi, the mixer works fine. Am I connecting it to the wrong place? RIght now the cable conncts to Mono L/R in the Motif and have tried everywhere else in the mixer. THe link to the photo may help. Thanks again.

Put the cable into the input of channel one on the mixer. Put the other end into the mono/L out of the Motif. Plug the midi cable from the Motif out into the midi in of your computer interface. Then plug a midi cable from the midi out of your computer interface to the midi in of the Motif. Be sure the 'local' setting is OFF. Then set the midi channel inside the Motif to correspond to the channel being transmitted by the keyboard, and presto! You should be able to hear the Motif in full-fidelity mono!

Try this and get back to me in the morning.
