hello to all

my quick question ..

I'm using a Motif ES rack and Roland JV1010 modules.

When I'm playing my midi files through the Motif ES, the open/close high hat cymbal sound is very loud .. The toms of the drum kit are very soft .. I would like to lower the open/close high hat sound and make the tom's more louder on the Motif ES .. Can anyone tell me how to do that ... O I am using cakewalk 8 software and a midi controller keyboard ..

When I play the same midi file through the Roland jv1010 module, all drum sounds are balanced ..

I'm appreciate a setp by step instruction as how to do it or can someone point out to the page # in the manual of the ES .. I have tried everything but still the open high hats are very loud on the Motif ..

thanks

Two things for you to try, one on the motif and one on the computer.

On the Motif -- On ch 10 (the drum channel in std midi files) there is a patch in the motif w/one sample for each sound. There should be an option to adjust the level of the individual samples there - the manual should be able to help you get into the correct screen.

On the computer - identify the hi hat notes and reduce their velocity. Depending on the software you're using there may be a single command to reduce the whole line - if not, you'll need to do each note one at a time.
