Reading that you have dual monitors,
and do video editing, I can't emphasize not getting a good graphics card, your video will just get better with the better card, also, get a MOBO with LOTS of HD ports as you will need more and more room for editing videos...

Thanks Dgatwood...I'm feeling your advice...really. Which board model would you go with? I'm gravitating to the ASUS simply because of my familiarity with them and going by reviews and price breaks. As for my failure looks as though some foreign object damage...burned trace low on the board. Found a little bit of ... I donno something laying across one of the PCI cards and a trace on the MOBO...burned up chip and trace.

Ooh. Post pics. Sounds like possibly a USB device was shorted out and the power supply failed to shut down in time, in which case probably not the fault of the motherboard (at least initially).

That "something" on your PCI card is probably the piece that blew out of the dead chip.
