George Lynch!!

The fact that nobody has mentioned him probably makes him under rated.

michael penn- probably the most original sound i've heard in a long time

The Cars guitarist was Elliot Easton..One of my favorite "pop" players!

What about Junior Brown{I think thats his name}He plays the Telecaster with the Lap thing..The guys a monster..

i'm most likely gonna get laughed at for this one, but i feel that East Bay Ray from the Dead Kennedys was a good guitarist. Sure he was playing punk music, but he was playing surf guitar riffs as if he were on speed. also johnny ramone, without his guitar style you wouldn't have any of today's music. (thats not saying much considering bands like Linkin Park or Blink-182)
also Billie Joe from green day. maybe his new guitar work isn't great, their first album had some pretty good solos for an 18 year old punk.

sorry, i like punk rock.

KYLO-

this man is amazing and ive been in the same room with him with less than 20 people when he was playing and at the time i was 18 and hated country music, this man has fingers of steel and more knowledge and experiance than ive ever heard from one guitarist in my life, not to mention he can play any instrument. god bless all tim pate

He's been mentioned a couple of times already; the instrument is called a Guit-Steel.

George Harrison is underrated, hell i almost never heard about him other than in the beatles, until he passed away.

You never heard about him because he wasn't that amazing of a guitar player, which isn't terribly important in the Song Business.

I listened to an early Kings X album (probably the first) recently. I'm sorry to say I don't really get the hype on Ty Tabor. It's a shame, 'cause I really like what I've been reading about him - but that don't make my ears happy. Maybe it's a case of too high expectations or maybe he has evolved a lot since the start? But then again, I don't really get Jimi Hendrix either.

And like I said before - most underrated -> Phil Manzanera...

Check out some more, he might grow on ya.
I was being a little silly before but I'll cast a vote to George Harrison also.
Phil Manzanera-some career, no doubt but I don't have any. Except for One Slip. Though I will check it out .

Tom Scholz. His awesome vibrato and
sweet tone have made some incredible
melodic guitar playing......and Phil Keagy
a master of the acoustic.....Bostonfan2

Listen to Woodstock (the whole album) and Electric Ladyland.
If you don't get him then, well, "to each his own"....

Anyone ever hear Doyle Brahmall II?

He's a pretty hot lefty blues player. Played with a band called Arc Angels about 10 years back.

I always really liked his tone. Although he's quite SRV-like, he has his own unique blues-rock phrasings.

Fred (S O N I C) Smith The Mc5 R i p

Wayne Kramer The Mc5

Deniz Tek Radio Birdman

Ash Naylor from the band Even from Melbourne Australia
