Ok this is not my band this is a band I recorded a week ago and I haven't got a chance to do the final tweaking but I wanted some opinions. Reel Big Fish is going to be hearing this and I want to make it decent. Let me know what you guys think and please be gentle. I'm fragile.

Sounds good enough to me, but what do I know, not my particular genre.

The vocals seem a tiny bit low in places is all I can come up with.
I hear amp buzz in quiet places but this is nitpicking.

I think it sounds great! I love the vocal overdubbing effects in the second half of the song. And that ping pong phase shifting of the drum roll was pretty cool too!

everything sounds great. i really cant pick out anything i dont like; the kick and snare arent lost, the guitars sound huge especially when you have all but one track cut out. the vocals arent just well recorded, but a good performance as well. nice job.

The mix sounds very good. I have to try hard to find something to comment on. :)

The backup guitar during the verses is a hair muffled sounding. Maybe that is what you were going for. You're definitely better at this than I am so I will shut up now.

Good luck!

wow thanks guys. I haven't been doing this too long and my studio is still about only half built so I'm constantly doubting what comes out of the studio. My earlier mixes always had some kind of micing issue or just a plain poor performance. This felt like a first really good mix to come out of my studio but I just wasn't sure, and this being the first thing I've posted I was kinda nervous. Thanks again guys.

Sounds good to me, all around.
I would fatten up the snare personally... it starts sounding like a tin pan at times... almost like the attack was compressed right out of it and the only thing left is the tail-end of it.
I also detect some timing issues between drums/guitars before 1:45, etc...

the snare sounds pretty rough, it sounds very compressed and very cheap. if you adjusted that it would be a fucking good mix.
is the kick triggered?

oh and was the tom distortion intentionally right before that phasy panned snare roll?

I agree, could stuff. I'd turn the hats up a bit. Snare I don't like, I wouldn't know how to fix it. Could very well be my taste. The vox could use a bit more compression I think, and turn them up a db or 2.

Nope kick isn't triggered, that's kinda my signature kick sound, everyone seems to really like it. The snare is likely at some point to be replaced. Around these parts we get a lot of bands what have horrible equipment. So they used my drum kit and yes the snare is bad I call it the '82 Tama Trashcan. I've just finished up a new mix, fixed some timing issues, took out the distorted tom tracks, and compressed the vox a little more. I'll post a remix when I get a chance.

Kick

What do you do to record the kick? Like everyone agrees it sounds amazing! Like what mic or mics, etc.? Awesome recording man!
