Mosrite bass

OK. I had to interrupt my thought experiments on how big is the universe and are there boundaries, etc. . .
but I just had to devote at least 5 minutes to this. A 6-string Mosrite bass???

Looks good - but is it a bass, or a baritone, or what. Thin string spacing, thicker strings? It's certainly not like a modern 6 string bass with bottom B (had that even been invented back then?) Just not sure what anyone would ever have used it for? Lovely to have in a collection though.

Fender VI Bass guitars had special bass strings which were tuned an octave lower than standard 6-string guitar tuning. I've no idea how the Mosrite 6-string bass was rigged.

My first question was, does this have the same sound as the iconic Mosrite guitars? Was this a 'surfer' bass?

Mosrite made nice looking guitars, after playing some, I will pass.

In the early 90's a guy in my old band picked up an old 60's Mosrite 6-string. I played with it for a while and passed on it for regular playing. I wouldn't get one for myself.
