I thought I'd give one more shot at some piano/strings arrangements before I started to focus on guitar again. This is my first attempt doing a piano/cello/violin trio thing, and I'm not sure how I feel about the outcome. My thoughts are that it doesn't really have any room to breath, and that the strings are a little relentless and wander too much.

Any thoughts/suggestions. Maybe I should start listening to this style of music more to get some ideas.

Boz...
Nice fairytale of NY type intro.
Lots of space in the 1st minute.
Sounds really good when the 'cello & piano aren't stomping on each other's tonality - and that stompin' isn't too often.
The strident part beginning at 2.50 does seem a little full but it resolves nicely so is probably the right thing to do.
Nice melodies & playing mate!

Hi Boz - I really like this. Just a couple of questions - did you play all the instruments on this or are there any loops? If you played, you're very talented! Are you planning on putting vocals to this or other instruments/percussion? Just curious where you're going with it or if you're planning to keep it as is. It sounds great and I like the build towards the end.

The violin and cello are sampled. I'm not really that great at the violin, and generally stick to the key of C or G when playing for reals. I tried to learn enough so that I could at least know some bowing techniques and how a real player would play to help make the fake strings sound as natural as possible.

I don't plan on adding anything else to this. I wanted to try my hand at Garritan's solo strings to see how well they worked, and it turns out I like the way they sound, at least so far.

Very nice sounding. For some reason, the theme from wings kept poping into my mind. Very nice arangement, and playing.

Dude, very nice composition. Nice playing. The violins sound really nice. They sounded at one point sampled. But that's not in itself a bad things. They fit in, so they're good. The piece is really nice to listen to.

I think I know what part you're talking about. After listening to this a few times, I feel that the strings are too up front, and it's giving it a sort of feel that I never liked in this kind of music. I just got more ram for my machine, so I may mess with it a bit more. Thanks for the listen.

Sounds good man...very well recorded amd mixed...sounds like it could be background music for a TV program...i like it.

Cheers!
