Purge

Traitorous Usurper
Now there's a glowing endorsement.

Anyway, the track's called "Missing". As usual: no vocals, blasphemous drum machine sounds, not as heavy as music I'd like to do with a band, and the "wake-up" happens towards the end.

Some questions and thoughts:
1. I don't mind any comments at all concerning solos like this one in slow music. There's a lot of well argued contensions (from both sides) as far shred (or at least what I can pull off, lol) vs. "feeling". I'd like to be able to pull off both, because I think music has a place for both. Feel free to let me know your thoughts, as well as if I even jokingly succeed at either. Not looking for a pat on the back here...I'm thick skinned if you think this style of playing is absolute shit, I welcome the comments.

2. Drum machines. They suck, I know, you know. But sometimes, they're a necessity. I recorded this with the SR-16, which I've now ditched in favor of a Boss DR-5. How do you guys deal with panning issues with these? I'm a little tired of hearing a bunch of cymbals right in the friggin' center.

Edit: Here's the fixed link:

Thanks in advance for any comments.

Well, as for the listen, I'll do it at home, since my work pc won't do Nowhere Radio for some reason.

My thoughts on drum machines (I use one too, you know):

I record the tracks on my MR-8 in stereo on tracks 5/6, then pan them hard in software. I don't know if you can do that with the Boss machine. Does it have stereo outs? I used my keyboard for the drums lately, because I don't like the stereo image of my DD-55, and it worked out great for me.

Ok, WTF? I'm gettin pissed people will post the shit and then take it off the site! Pfft! Everytime I go and check it out its says error you need codecs. I know thats not the case. Damn at least keep the song on for a day or so to get some feedback! This is nothing personal I'm just sick of getting that damn error!

Pissed off and lovein' it,

Heh, I wanted to hear it just because of that thread title, LOL! You should go into marketing.

But I can't access it for some reason. I'll try from work tomorrow.

I don't think he took it down. Nowhere Radio gives me that same error when I try to access it at work. I can download it fine at home...

Hmm...Does it do it to different people??? I've gottin Wirenecks shit np. And a couple others I can't think of now. I was just blowing shit out my mouth. But I'm sure it couldn't be on my end. :D

L8er,

Whoa, snakebite! I took off my glasses for a second and there it was, plain as day - MANIC. Nice use of simple graphics, livilaNic.

Thx. :)

The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters.

Alright! I listened here at home (lo-fi  ) for some reason, I can't get the hi-fi version to play. Makes no difference, I enjoyed it anyway...

Missing - the answer is your guitar tracks from the collab, LOL!

I think I just hijacked your thread... :o

Sorry about that guys! I'm not sure why I'm having problems with this lately. I'll see if NL5 would be willing to let me throw this up on his server.

Throw it up!

I'm hopefully gonna have a MP3 hosting site in the next week or so - it's almost done, but the programmer seems to have disappeared on me... :(

O.K., I finally got it. Dude, do us a favor and encode at a little smaller rate. That file is almost 10MB. I couldn't get it to stream without lots of sputtering, so I had to d/l it.

I like the sound. The arrangement reminds me of the other tune you posted recently. Sort of a canon/bolero build that is kind of sleepy in the beginning, but gets to a ripping solo at the end. Very well played. I wish I could play that cleanly. You need to throw some of those dual leads into the collab song. :)

I'd like to hear melody/lead earlier in the song. If not, it really needs a vocal. 3:45 of rhythm guitars is a bit cumbersome. Of course, real drums would be nice, but I totally understand.

Good for you Rokket and scrubs! I give up. I can't even get lo-fi . Im to lazy to fill out a register.

Link is fixed folks. Massive kudos to NL5 for letting me do this.

Scrubs--much appreciation for the comments. And I'm in firm agreement about the idea of that much "blah" before things finally pick up at the end. I thought about throwing at least some kind of melodic thing during the second go-around of the chords, but have been too lazy to figure out what I need to do to make this more interesting all the way through.

Never even thought about the encoding rate--thanks for bringing that to my attention. I'll look into it.

DL, too slow, it stopped at 57%...I don't ahve a problem with big files but it was slooooow.

I'll try again later.

Shameless unforgiveable bump now that it seems to be working okay.
