More odd things that have happened to me. And, yes, I¡¯m going to crosspost this to one other topic.
I now officially have my DMP3 and Audiophile 2496 connected. But, lo and behold, a problem: one of the gains on the DMP3 is too much, and the other is too little. And the VU meter doesn¡¯t seem to be representative of the input. My thoughts are that maybe I have to somehow correllate the DMP3 and the input level of the soundcard. (2496) But I can¡¯t figure out how to do that. The Monitor Mixer program that CAME with the Audiophile doesn¡¯t seem to work. When I adjust the inputs and play through a keyboard or guitar NOTHING happens. I also wonder whether or not this has to do with the fact that Windows XP does not ¡°sign¡± the Audiophile drivers. Also, I¡¯ve already gotten hum in recording, but maybe that¡¯s due to the fact that I had to set the gain so I high so I could get any kind of ¡°warm¡± sound? Or is this the fact that I¡¯m using an ¡°unbalance¡± ¨ù¡± tip? What difference does that make? Also, weird stuff in Sonar has been happening. In the open new template, just the other day I tried to open one, and I was reduced to only three templates from the normal number of twentysomething. I had to use System Restore. Then Sonar stopped accepting my Sblive! Output drivers. System restore again. So many questions. I just want some great sound is all. Oh, also. When I use the Sblive out for MIDI, I get it through my speakers. When I use Delta for Midi, I get it through my keyboard. What¡¯s the deal? And I have read the manuals, at least for the Delta/M-Audio products which are sadly, sadly outdated.
Thanks,
Kennan
