Is there any way to get 4 more channels of inputs out of the firepod. I see it has SPDIF on the back, is there any way I can get maybee 2 or 3 inputs out of that, so then I would have the firepods 8 plus the SPDIF 2 which would equal 10.

I have a yamaha mixer that I could use the Preamps from and then direct out it to another device (if possible) that would convert the mic to spdif...whatever that is?

Thanks guys!

Would this work?

PS- Please don't say buy a firestudio. :)

The ART Digital MPA preamp. 2 channels that have S/PDIF that you can use with your firepod. I think the only other option to getting more inputs is to actually buy another firepod and sync them together.

If you need more preamps and are on a budget, id suggest looking for another used firepod to sync with yours. You could also sell your firepod and get something like the Motu 8pre which has the ability to sync with compatable devices through ADAT Lightpipe. So this means you can get something like the Behringer ADA8000, sync it with the MOTU, and end up with 16 channels of preamps and 10 outputs (or something like that)

the firepod has 10 channels 2 which are regular 1/4 inputs. So what are you saying???

Oh and by the way you can buy another firepod and link it with the other via firewire and have 16 preamps ;)

I can only use 12 in my DAW, Logic Express.

I don't have $999 to buy Logic Pro. :(

The Firepod has 8 1/4" line inputs. Channels 1 and 2 also have 1/4" instrument inputs. It also has 2 SPDIF channels available.

The cheapest thing to do is to get another Firepod. You can find used ones on eBay for under 300 dollars now. Otherwise, you'd have to move up to more complicated systems that may or may not warrant the extra cash and headache.
