NOW WHAT!!...am I supposed to go out and buy another banjo and post more pics!! I only have the one:(

so...dtb...do you ever capo your banjo?...or have spikes? or just regulated to play in "G"?

I figure a capo is down the road for me (until I can actually play something). The 5th string sliding Shrubb capo looks interesting. Doesn't seem like it would get in the way for ME.

yep, you got to get one of them thar Gibson Scruggs' models. he he he. I never capo, but mostly cause I don't play it with the gang enough. Plus it screws up the location dots. he he he. Mine has spikes, which I might add is very handy. The Shrubb capo must be good. I see them often on banjos. And it shouldn't get in the way. The little spikes are hard to see, and I normally have to sit the banjo down to spike it. I'm real old, you know. I have capoed and spiked up to A for a tune and then went back to G and forgot to unspike. Nice. EVERYONE looks right at me, and I'm thinking, "the damn mando is out of tune". he he he he he

On a serious note, do you know anything about tuning the banjo to play in D in the first (open) position? We do a lot of D tunz, and I've heard of folks doing that. Gota check that out on the net or sumpin.

Thanks for listening.

damn, I forgot. how's your doggies. we finally had our Jack denutted back in the winter. It's been around 5 months, and he's only gained 2 lbs., and still very, very active. Here's a pic.

nice looking jack. Mine are doing great, btw. As far as tuning in D, there are some tuners (albeit pretty$$$) called Keith D-tuners .. ha!..go figure. That you would replace your 2nd and 3rd tuners with, that allow a quick tuning change to the key of D. I have heard of so many options, that picking the route for "you" (or me, as the case may be) is the tuffie.

here's some more info on the D-tuners (note the $200 price for a pair!!!)http://folkofthewood.com/page735.htm

I have heard of tuning in C also..

thanks for the link. I've seen some dudes use those tuners on the tunes that they mentioned. And this is from 0% research, but I hope you can tune the strings a certain way too. These tuners would be for a quick way to get there. I've only seen'em used on those tunz where they go back and forth for different parts of the tune. Kinda like "deonnnnnnnnnndeonnnnnnnngeonnnnnnnnnndeonnnnnnnnnnnnnn", he he he ehe hehehehhehehhehe

chickens readyr. later guy.

Nice tune there dtb, you playing the banjo in this? Sounds kool. Would of liked the vocal's up a bit for my liking...but i'm pretty deaf anyway's:) Good stuff dtb, nice pic also...i'm thinking of tradeing my wifes two poodles in for a couple Jacks:D I know that'll go over well haha! Thanks cat.

ears, thanks man, if you haven't seen it, go to powderfinger's bluegrass post. A discussion on mics and shit like that. Hince the pic and music. I'm playing the guitar live, and overduded the banjer. This is an ongoing deal we do every Wed. nite. Mic placement is the same, folks change all the time. he he he he he

And Jack's rule. IMO they are the smartest, most destructive bastards I know.

Thanks my friend for the listen.

Dan
