Hey so I am running Cubase 4.5.2 or whichever the latest is and the gear im running with it is a Behringer 2442FX Mixer with Samson Resolv 50A reference monitors. I have my reference monitors plugged into the MAIN OUT inserts on the back and just editing headset plugged into phones on the mixer.

my issue is that when im in cubase everything plugged into my mixer is going through the reference monitors! and ive been trying to isolate and just turn down the reference monitors when i am doing recording with mics and condensers but the only way i can turn them down is if i turn my main mix fader down but then when that is turned down of course now no signal is going into cubase i can only isolate the headphones.
plugging the monitors into the CTRL ROOM is already not an option because the level control for the CTRL ROOM is the same as the PHONES JACK so turning them down will now eliminate my headphones.

I dont know if this is a cubase or general routing question ill post in both but any help is appreciated!

thanks in advance!

Your studio monitors are supposed to be plugged into the CTRL OUT. However, due to the design of that mixer, you cannot isolate the monitors from the headphones, (they are internally combined.)

During recording you may have to either turn off your monitors or install a MUTE/VOLUME control inline.

During playback from the computer you can always mute the mic channels to keep them out of the playback.

The online manual does not mention much about that USB connection at all. There may be more routing options that I don't know about. I just don't know where in the mixer the playback signal is being injected. I am guessing into the same bus as the CD/TAPE IN which would put it directly into the Master Channel.

probably fixed the problem

hey thanks for the help ya i had actually tried last night after i posted the thread but right now is i what you said to do was route the monitors to the CTRL OUT and then i have both my headsets plugged into the MAIN OUT on the back in. right now its working ok to where my MAIN MIX fade will now control the headset instead of the monitors im just worried about in the future if plugging my headphones into the left and rights will affect the way ihear things if its in stereo haha

also what were you saying about the mute/volume control inline? where would that go?
thanks again for the help!
