One Hit Wonder
Biggest Part of Me
http://home.comcast.net/~jagular/songs/

This was a large collaboration that got its genesis on the Cakewalk forum, and it included members from 4 Continents. The participants were (in no special order) BluesMesiter, Porter, James Argo, moskus, Jagular, Pedulist, wfaraoni, Blood Shark, Lt. Bob, and yours truly (I sure hope I got everybody  ). For various reasons, not everyone mentioned is actually on the recording - so I won't say who played what instuments. I'll just say that everyone was a contributer to the project.

Due to the distances involved, much of this was stitched together through the sharing of mp3 files - so if the quality is a bit low, that could be a part of the reason why (the other part is most likely because I was the one who mixed it :) ).

We are still planning to ultimately put this together using wave files, but we thought we get your collective input first.

Let us know what you think, or if you want more details behind the collab.

Thanks to everyone involved. IMHO we have some real talent on this bbs.

I like it, I was kind of taken back by some of the high notes, seems a tad bit strained by the vocalist (who can obviously sing very well mind you)

Who's playing what?

Lynx, did you read this:

Damn, Jagular can sing, can't he? Lt Bob, dude, you rock.

Good bass. Is it real? If so, who? Never mind, I forgot you don't know.:D

I know who's doing what......but I'll never tell.

What fun.......I love these big collabs.

Thanks ChuckU!
And thanks Dachay2tnr.....for letting me do a little bit on this fine tune.

very nice work you did together guys. Smooth performances and mix surgery puttin all the parts together.

Did I play something? :D :D :D

Wait for my christmas mix version...

Wow,you guys did this all on Sonar at home?My computer must be broken because nothing I do sounds anywhere near as good as this. :o
But seriously,is there some magic pixie dust, human sacrifice or selling of the souls involved in the making of this?
Great job!
Can't wait to hear the next version.

Don't thank me. You were demanded by acclamation of the group. Thanks for helping out.

Ok...since the cat's out of the bag anyway :D

Yeah...I'll fess up to that vocal. It isn't in a range I sing in everyday :D.

This was actually a one take scratch vocal that I did early on to hold the vocal space in the mix (with a little techical help in a couple places ;)). I haven't been able to get to redoing it and some factions ;) don't want me to while others (me and I don't know who else :D) would like to redo it. It's just going to be a bit before I can do it. If I do end up redoing it, I'll probably approach it a lot differently. I'll probably end up comping a track where I'll sing the high falsetto parts first (after warm up) and the main part of the song later and set the levels separately for each of the parts so I don't have to strain to get the falsetto parts with a useable signal.

Anyway, thanks for listening everyone and thanks for the kind words. This was a bunch of fun :D

Haha!! Move over 'Darkness' the 'Hey Moskus' Band has arrived.

Good clarity in everyone's parts.. uhm... ok without blinking I can pin the tail on the sax and bass players.. I see Jagular has come clean as the vox, very nice pipes Jagular. Lesse that leaves keys, guits, mixing and did i miss anything?

This gives me a 70's kind of feel to it, some of it reminds me of Boston if that doesn't sound too far out man..

This project sounds like it was a lot of fun, hope everyone enjoyed, i know i did.

I already fessed up to doing the mixing in my original post. But you left out drums, bg vox and web master. :D

I would have missed this one, except my Better Half D/L'd it and played it for me- nice. Especially liked the sax, Lt. This was done by trading MP3's? Wher the hell is the NOISE?
My computer must be broken too. My WAV's don't sound this good.
Vocals are excellent, and the mix kills. We are not worthy. Well done.

Carry on.

Buffalo Bob - Sorry, I almost missed your response as I thought this thread had died. Thanks for the listen and the kind words.

Actually this piece was cobbled together from a wide variety of sources. My recollection is that the bass, lead vocal, and one of the guitars are from mp3's. Two other guitar tracks are from wave files, as are the bg vox. Drums were supplied to me via a midi file which was rendered using the Blue Jay Drums sound font. The keyboards are midi also, rendered using the Kompakt DXi. Sax was supplied via an audio CD, from which I ripped a 16/44.1 wave file (and actually it's a compilation track of several takes the good Lt. sent :) ).

Does that meet the criteria for "cobbled together?" :D

Wayyyy excellent job you guys. Great balance, clarity and vision here. I would personally, without a doubt, add more chamber to the lead AND backing vocals, guitar and sax solo's. It begs for a bit more. A slight increase in the high end edge overall, a smidgeon of gentle overall compression for slightly more presence and aural continuity, and it's there, IMHO. Far out dudes! Out-friggin-standing!! Happy and a Healthy New Year!! ---Lee

Lovely! Great vocals (lead and BVs), great sax, great solid bass.

Very impressive collab.

Cheers
