the inputs on the 1010 are all mono. inputs on a mixer or a soundcard will usually tell you if it's stereo or not. but generally only outputs on a soundcard are mono.
well, they won't be stereo plugs
for your use, they will be considered TRS (balanced) plugs instead. They're only stereo if two separate L/R signals are being sent down the cable. It will just be a mono balanced cable.
but don't try and plug in a stereo peice of gear with it into the 1010 jack...you'll lose the stereo
sorry im being a div here.
iv got a multicore that is 8 female xlr to 8 female jack, so this will be suited to use? ill still get the same affect as the an mono jack?
Won't work! You need to plug the microphone into a pre-amp (using an XLR-XLR cable) and then plug the output of the pre (which could be XLR or 1/4", balanced or unbalanced, but it will be line level) into a 1/4" input on the 1010. If the cable going into the 1010 has two black strips (TRS) the 1010 will think it's getting a balanced signal. If you use TS, it will be unbalanced. Since it is only ONE signal, it will be mono. I hope you didn't buy the 1010 before you had figured out how to hook everything up
