I hate poetry, I don't know why. Most lyrics are poetry, i.e., I hate most lyrics, including my own. What the Fuck Is Wrong With Me.
 
It sounds like tortured artist syndrome. Life sucks, art sucks, I suck.

You should be able to find your muse through the angst!
 
Im fifty two, my angst has long since passed. I have been known to write a tune now and then but I do throw away ninety eight percent of my lyrics.
 
My guess is you have unreasonable expectations [possibly unattainable] where success in songwriting is concerned. Are you writing to fit a genre other than what you prefer?

Probably not really looking for solutions to this...just venting??

I don't have any expectations and I don't write to a genre. There are those here that will attest that I can write a good tune whenever I feel like, but most of the time I just don't feel like it anymore.
I think my dislike of poetry may have something to do with it? I don't really know where the dislike comes from?

I'm not going to argue with you, but I should say that an eyebrow is raised.

I like your lyrics very much. I hate writing lyrics because it's so hard to capture that feeling of futility and wistful loneliness I have whenever I'm drawn to write music. Yours are good though.
 
I have to wonder how broad a slice of your style that posting represents. It certainly does read like poetry...rather epic. My guess it the lyric is about the loss of your inspiration? not just some literal figure?

It really is very nice, but I doubt you posted it to hear that.

Maybe try writing about places or events or things instead of people...I know people tend to bring me down LOL.

Hope ya get thru your groove...Im kinna in one too right now, mental shit sucks.
