Monitors

Ok, I need a monitor or two, I'm recording through an sm57 and some unknown dynamic all the band instruments, and vocals to an Omnistudio. Can anyone recommend me to pretty good monitors perhaps under the price of 350?? any help is greeeatly appreciated.
 
You should only mix with one monitor if you are recording and mixing in mono....if you are recording in stereo, youll need 2....thats the only way youll be able to place your instruments in the stereo field....you could do it blindly with one speaker but that kinda defeats the purpose....

Tannoy ProtoJ's go for 199/pair......

Hafler M5's 198/pr.....299 for the pair with a ta1100amp from MF.....

20/20's are damn good but 300/pr....definitely worth it but when there are so many links in the recording chain (mics, pres, soundcard,monitors), sometimes you have tobudget wisely to get decent quality in EVERY link....you could have killer mics, a badass soundcard, and JBL25pmonitors, but its gonna sound like poo poo if that preamp sucks.....

Im just rambling on saying make sure there is room in your budget to address every link.....
