what is a 'passive' monitor??

What is a 'powered' monitor??

Cheers,
thanks,

An active and powered monitors are ones that have their own power source. The passive requires an amplifier.

thanks, i definately dont want to have to get an amplifier.
Ummmm..so whats the difference between 'powered' and 'active'

cheers,
c

thanks for your help

i am currently trying to deciede on monitors, and i'm thinking maybe the behringer truth actives, or the tannoy reveal actives.
any suggestions??
I am going to be recording in my bedroom probably and will mainly be recording guitar, vocals and then adding MIDI.
Are these monitors suitable?? or possibly over-kill?? for what i want to do.
I am just looking to make reasonable demos bthat arent polished but sound decent.
thanks,
C

check out KRK V-4s....

they are good for a small room...I use them....

M-Audio BX8's are a bargain-in-a-box with 8-inch woofers. The little blue light is a bit much, but they're easily tuned to your room.

Well, where do you live?

QLD Australia??
why do you ask??

Ummmm, so does that mean that my choices are not appropriate for a bedroom???
thanks,
C

I ask, because I know nothing about australian prices. :) What is good price/perfomance varies in different places.
