I have a monitor question. What are some monitors that you could use that would be at your house rather than buying any. For example, with a Stereo system work? I recorded my 5 piece band on the Tascam 424MkIII 4- track, and I want to play it back to everyone rather than in the headphones. help anyone?

Yes, you can use your stereo or your boom box.You could hook it up to your TV if it has rca inputs.

I believe the outputs on my old 424 mk III were RCA.Doesn't really matter, they make 1/4" to RCA adapters and vice versa.

Crappier the monitor the better as far as I'm concerned.
I do my levels and drum eq with an auratone spitting a mono signal.
I usually check out the mix throughout the day on the speaker on an Otari MTR12 sitting in the corner of the room.
If you get it sounding great (good levels and separation of elements) you'll scare yourself when you chuck it on the big boys!

Very good advice is to try your mix through speakers most listeners will use a couple of times before deciding for sure to use it. Another thing I do is listen to the song outside of my recording room. If it sounds good through a door, it's a good mix! :)
