Hey guys--

so i'm trying to decide on monitors. Up until this point i haven't ever owned any speakers one could consider to be actual monitors, and I was thinking about picking up a pair of the Behringer 3031A's (or the 2031As depending on which sounded better) because they are pretty cheap, and can pump out a good amount of bass with the 8" woofer. I make lots of different types of music, but a lot of experimental stuff, and a lot of bassy distorted beats, so this sounded pretty good.

then i realized something. A few months back I found a Revox B-250s amp on the street-- its in working condition, the display doesn't light up (who cares) and when i change the EQ the sound gets much thinner even if its only one step on either bass or treble (i'm thinking that when the EQ is in the middle the amp must route the signal directly through, bypassing the EQ circuit, which must be faulty somehow-- weird)

anyway, long story short, the amp has the ability to separate the Pre from the Power amp, and I was using the power only section a little while ago to power some small jbl control 1's i was then using as "monitors". The amp is rated at 800W and is supposed to be able to put out 200Wpc into 4ohms-- so now i'm thinking I should use this as a power amp and get nicer speakers? I'd really like to keep it under $400 if possible---

anyway, I'd like to hear some weighing in on this plan, or suggestions, or if you think the revox isn't worth using--

thanks
