Ok, I've been useing these cheap bookshelf speakers I bought at radioshack on clearance, and I am getting pretty good results. I've seriously been thinking about getting some real monitors at GC or something, Is there a not so pricey set of monitors I can get that are still good?

They look just like NS10s but they are all black. I dont know guys, what do you think? should I invest in some new monitors or what?

If you like what you're using now... then why change? Unless you don't like what you're using now, in which case you need to discover exactly WHAT it is you don't like about your monitors now and then audition others to find the ones you DO like!

just like that leventhal dude in electronic musician uses his radio shack speakers.
But studio monitors will show you what you are missing from cds you have heard a hundred times.

Well, while being a newbie to this site here's my take on monitors for mastering.
If you are doing your CD for commercial release, leave the mastering to a mastering lab. This type of work is very specialized and those that do it well usually do nothing else, that's why they are good at it.
You can get a good mastering lab to do a 10 song CD for about $1200-$1500 depending on how good you final mix is.
I always send mine to a mastering lab.... they know their stuff and you will be glad you did.
