Hello, I am wondering if there is any draw back to putting monitors on their sides?

Any ideas?

If i can put monitors on their sides, I think a pair of wharfdale 8.1's may be in my future :D

There can be... it depends on the design. Some designs allow for side placement, others don't recommend it...

It's not going to hurt anything if you do - worst case is you skew your imaging somewhat. You can always try it - if you don't notice an issue, then you'll be fine.

Keeping your tweeters to the inside may help keep your imaging intact.

I have the 8.2's and in the manual they advise against putting them on their side.

I would actually expect the opposite, and lay my (dinosaur) 4311's their side and have seen the same in numerous studios with the tweets on the outside....thinking with the low end to be less directional.

 I've been advised to do the opposite many times (including on here I think).

I know some are specifically designed to have the tweeters on the inside if laid horizontal.

Here's a manual for those wharfedales:

It says you can mount them horizontally but that this isn't ideal.
