I have a pair of the Paradigms and a pair of YSM-1s. The Yorkvilles smoke the Paradigms.

You really think so? The new Mini Monitors I have experience with have a much more open detailed image than the Yorkvilles. You sure you dont have a bad pair or something? THe mkII's are quite old now, too, and have been replaced by either two or three updated models. I think the MkIII was the 1st to use the low mass titanium driver and the new crossover, but I may be wrong on that one.
Are yours the one with separate woofer and tweeter, or are they all in the same diffusion plate, or whatever you would want to call it. (in other words, is there wood between them, or are them in the same faceplate?)
The Paradigms sound better to me, but thats just me. :)
I still say to the dude... check em out 1st, if you dont like em, dont get em. Its always worth a free listen. At $200 a pair, the Yorkvilles are a real good buy, but I think the Paradigms are a step up and resale value is better.

YSM1p's are Awesome Sounding ! !

BOYDRJ, Early last year,Prior to purchasing my Yorkvilles monitors, I did some extensive "STUDIO MONITOR" research for over 6 months. I have heard many of the professional Monitors that are popular for under $600 a pair.

Having worked in professional Studios as a keyboardist, in my opinion the YSM1p's are one of the best I have ever heard in it's Class and price range. Do not ! I repeat Do not! let the size of the Woofer fool you, these monitors have Range and Punch!

They will be an asset to any musican's Home Studio. There are other good quality sounding monitors available , however the YSM1p's are certainly in a monitor Class all by themselves.

The YSM1p's can't be puchased just anywhere. Yorkville is selective about the retail stores that represent their awesome product. Yorkville doesn't spend a large amount of their budget on Marketing, they spend a large amount in Research & Development.*smile* The Techology of their speaker design is simple , Accurate, responsive, clear and powerful! You will deeply appeciate the sound of the Yorkvilles Monitors !

I got the studiophile BX-8.

I returned them a week later because of a weird buzzing the enclosure will make at certain frequencies. When i would solo clean guitars, it would buzz, i thought it was from the amp, nope, the monitor. Went to the store before i saw this post and got some paradigm m3. They are quite the speaker.

Didnt see that until now... I think the Monitor 3 is the same as the mini monitor in a slightly bigger cabinet that extends the bass just a hair. I might be wrong, gonna check right now...
How are your mixes translating? How about the stereo image? I love the image and clarity on them. Its like someone took a blanket off the speakers.
Post your feelings on them, I dot see much tal about them at all.

The monitor 3 has the 8" woofer unlike the mini set. I wanted the bigger ones since those are pretty much the only speakers i have that i would trust with a mix. I recorded extensively the entire week after getting them and everything turned out great. The bx-8's sounded good to me, but i couldn't get that buzz to go away. I had a hi-fi receiver sitting around so i went up to the local hi-fi shop just to see if they had anything comparable. the monitor 3 are what they presented me with and i haven't looked back since. Nothing about the mix has surprised me anywhere else I've played. In my opinion, those speakers presented everything as it was in the mix and that's all I was looking for. They're a great buy and right around the price of the monitors that everyone is buying. I'm surprised not more people have liked them. Maybe they just didn't consider going to a hi-fi shop in search of studio monitors. But i would check them out if you get a chance. I got the pair for $420.

Never even thought about going with an 8 inch... I have mixed on the Mackies and liked them quite a bit, but most people seem to push against mixing on 8 inch woofers becuase of the transient response and stuff... I might give them a listen and see whats up.
