Hi,

I've noticed when I leave my monitors (M-Audio Bx5's) turned on and my PC on that from time to time they make a pop sound, or a little short sharp crack sound. It occurs when no media player is on and no software is on. Just when the PC is totally idle. It happens infrequently.

I'm just wondering if that is normal, or if I should be worried.

thanks

It sounds like some kind of appliance is kicking on and creating some electrical noise. Try to watch out for anything like a frig, ac, etc. kicking on or off when the pop sound happens.

So you reckon it's relatively harmless? The monitors are only about a year old.

It's funny you say fridge, because I am tiling my unit at the moment and I had to move the fridge into the spare room a couple of days ago.

Plug your comp & monitors into a power board & then into a long extension cord. Zoom around the place trying diff. power oulets. If the prob persists with all power points it's either a major power issue or a prob with comp &/or speakers. If it doesn't occur all round then it's what ever circuit it does occur on & you can avoid it by plugging elsewhere.
Appliances on the same circuit do that sort of thing.

Nope ..... Monitors are ruined ..now almost useless!! Never give you an accurate mix again!

However I'll take them off your hands for $20.00 just for the parts.
PM me for the mailing address, I'll even pay the shipping for you.

Riccol....as Bob Dylan said in England..."I don't believe you!"

My speakers are currently sharing the same power board as my monitor, hard drive, printer and a lamp.

I'll get them their own power points
