Yo friends:

I finally did it and ordered a pair of Yorkville YMS-1 monitors.

Why?

Well, I think my Alesis I's are merely adequate. From the chatter around here and there, the Yorkville speakers, very modestly priced at 108.00 pezzutos per speaker, are better than my Alesis 1 speakers. Funny, Alesis makes some nice stuff and some bum stuff.

And, although Yorkville stuff is made in Canada, I found a back door dealer right here in good old Grand Rapids. The price was constant because I made a couple of calls to check.

I wonder, Yorkville makes all the "other" stuff we use:mics, amps, etc., How good does Yorkville rate with you top engineers out there? Maybe worthwhile to look into.

Happy New Year

Yorkville gear is aimed primarily at the PA/live sound market, but some of it could be useful in the studio. They've got some very good amplifiers.

I have the YSM-1s and an APEX mic (the 420). It's a large diaphram condenser and not too bad. The price was right. It's a decent vocal mic and sounds pretty good on acoustic guitar.

New Yorkville New Yorkville,...

Yo Bruce & Rat Tracker:

Thanks for the input. I'll bet anything that the Yorkville monitors are better than the Alesis I monitors I have in my little studio.

I'm going to ask for all the printed information I can get from this back door dealer about Yorkville gear, in Grand Rapids; if any sounds like it would help anyone, newbie or otherwise, I'll send it out on the proper forum.

I'm pricing the Alesis Masterlink too and the best price seems to be around 1399.00 with a 100 pezzuto rebate from Alesis; but, this may be on the old model and not the updated model. Dealers are not too willing to tell you which one they are offering. Any better price around for the unit or do we have to wait for the recession to take hold?

Hey, thanks,

Green Hornet
