How can I monitor live with my Delta 1010? I want the drummer to be able to listen to the guitar and bass tracks that are being recorded simultaneously on headphones.

I'm using Cool Edit Pro.

Cheers!

Does Cool Edit have a bussing structure?

If so just set up an aux bus to output to 2 of your unused delta outs, and route the guitar & bass tracks to that aux. Now plug the deta outs into your headphone amp.

Alternatively if you have a mixer, use the aux sends from the bass & guitar on that to feed the phones

Use the Moitor mixer built into the M-Audio applet.
It allows you to mix the incoming signals from each input with the outgoing tracks from the computer in what ever fashion you want. Then it sends it out the outs 1 and 2 to whatever you are using for monitoring.

Do you have a multi out headphone amp?

ok- i'll try using the built in M-Audio mixer. I do not have a multi out headphone amp, but i'll route the signal i want to monitor through, say, a home stereo, then to the drummer. sound good?

That is great. I actually used some old stereo receivers for a long time with a bunch of headphone splitters. Works fine!

Assuming you have some sort of small mixer, you should use that instead of the Delta's built-in monitoring. For the complete story see Using a Mixer with a DAW from EQ magazine, first in the list on my Articles page.
