Hey guys, lets say I'm recording a loud instrument, drums or whatever...how would i monitor with a click without drowning myself out?

You don't even need isolation headphones (they would be nice but pretty expensive). I use closed back headphones and just turn up the volume a little bit. If your click track uses a sound almost like a sidestick or a woodblock, you can hear it over the drums.

for my click tracks, i created a midi of 1/4 notes and i loop it for 5 minutes or whatever, and edit the bpm in my recording program.

you should do the same, but try out different pitches that will be heard through the drums

Extreme Isolation cans or the Senn HD280 Pro's. Both are working out pretty well, I've found.
In fact, I posted here not long ago that I preferred the Extreme's over the Senn's but found out I had my headphone mix screwy and I think I like the Senn's better... :D

using some sort of headphones of course.

i got some wireless headphones for 50 bucks.

the no wire part really comes in handy.

great idea man cheers

I've owned HD280s and also Beyerdynamic
DT770Ms at the same time and the
Beyers give much more isolation.

The Beyers are also more comfortable.
