Am I correct that if you only have two outputs on your soundcard, there is no way to switch between nearfields/headphones without physically disconnecting the monitors, and then placing some type of headphone amp between?

To easily switch between the two, I would need a soundcard with 4 or more outputs and a seperate headphone amp???

I'm probably missing something, but this is how it appears...

If your nearfields are active, then yes what you say is correct.

If your nearfields are passive, you can connect them to a speaker switch box that has a headphone out.

Sorry, I've forgotten - what soundcard do you use?

Haven't bought one yet (soundcard), but I sold my old amp and a guitar, so I will have a bit of "extra" money...

Yes, monitors are active (YSM1p's).

Yea, but I'm poor!
Let me clarify...
I sold my Crate/Epi back to their original owner, for the original price I paid ($350). However, I do not have the cash in hand yet... :(

Even something small like a MixPad would suffice. Or one of those teeny weeny little Behris (yeah, I know I said the 'B' word).

They are dirt cheap.
I just don't know if I could buy one without feeling... dirty
It would probably have some psychosomatic affect...or some kind of reverse engineering karma stain... :D

Look for something on ebay. Or you could be really industrious and build your own A-B box with headphone amplifier.
