Monitoring Stuffs

Hey guys, im currently monitoring using headphones. i know its bad.. and im workng on it to get a Proper Monitor(recomendations please ) anyways, everytime i monitor, i will switch on the PFL thingy, i have no idea what that is, but it sounds EPICLY better, but after i record it sounds so buzzy and all ... any ideas?

PFL = piffel = "Pre Fader Listen". You are monitoring the audio input before it hits your faders. I don't know what other kind of gear you're using, or what your signal path is, but watch the levels on your recorder when you're tracking. If you're clipping/distorting, try lowering the level of your faders.
